Tanner Foust Takes Double Gold Medals at X Games

LOS ANGELES, CA (Tanner Foust Racing)  — Rockstar Energy Drink driver Tanner Foust took home a pair of gold medals this weekend at the high-profile X Games Rally Car competitions in Los Angeles.

Piloting his Rockstar Energy Drink and Etnies-backed Ford Fiesta, Foust took the wins against stiff competition from around the world in both the traditional Rally Car Racing event and the new Super Rally contest.

“It was an amazing day of competition,” said Foust. “The energy at X Games is unreal, with so many fans in the stands and that challenging course and that makes the wins even better.”

The two medals bring Foust’s X Games total to five. He has another gold from 2007, and has earned silver and bronze in the past two years, making him the most-decorated rally driver in the X Games field.

“I spent a lot of time in Europe driving my Rockstar Energy Drink Ford Fiesta in European Rallycross just to be ready for this event,” said Foust. “I’m happy it paid off in a win for everyone involved.”

The two Rally Car events are the only four-wheel motorsports ever to be included in X Games and the non-stop action, paired with an incredible, 70-foot gap jump feature on the course have proven wildly popular with fans.

X Games is the largest event on the global action sports calendar, with ESPN delivering live coverage to 175 countries and territories over four days and a reach to more than 382 million.

Foust has been competing overseas in European Rallycross this year to gain experience and get a jump on the competition for X Games and the three US rallycross events set to debut in New Jersey starting later this month.

The action-sport of auto racing, rallycross is a blend of circuit racing, off-road racing and rally competition. Debuting at X Games under the name SuperRally, the sport delivered plenty of action. Four high-horsepower compact cars lined up to start at once in the LA Coliseum, and drivers piloted them through race traffic over a challenging short course.

After setting the fastest qualifying time of the day, Foust made his way through the Rally Car Racing and Super Rally heats to close finals: lining up against the virtually identical Rockstar Energy Drink Ford Fiesta piloted by teammate Brian Deegan – who took silver in both events.
