NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (March 22, 2015) – Rockstar Energy Drink driver Tanner Foust returned to the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series this weekend in a Pro 2 Unlimited truck for his first stint behind the wheel in competition after a long off-season.
The multi-time Global Rallycross and Formula Drift champion scored a pair of top-10 results over two competition days and made progress in the climb up the learning curve of his newest motorsport challenge.
“My first couple of races in Pro 2 last season definitely gave me a taste for the excitement of sliding and jumping an 800-plus horsepower truck and I’m grateful to Rockstar Energy Drink for giving me a chance to do a few races again this year,” said Foust, who made his Pro 2 debut in the series at the Lake Elsinore race last April. “It’s a huge challenge and the more time I spend in the truck, the more I’m able to focus on setting up the suspension for my driving and gaining some speed.”
Foust drove the Lake Elsinore race in the Rockstar Energy Drink Pro 2 truck formerly driven by veteran off-roader Rob MacCachren, whose team handled the preparation.
“I’m definitely a rookie out there,” said Foust. “I have so much respect for the guys out here who have been doing this for years and I want to say a big congratulations to Rob (MacCachren) who put his Rockstar Energy Drink Pro 2 truck on the podium both nights.”
The versatile Foust plans to run a select campaign of events in the 2015 LOORRS season as part of a packed schedule that also includes dates on the Formula Drift and FIA World Rallycross calendars, as well as a full season of Global Rallycross in the Rockstar Energy Drink Volkswagen Beetle.
He will next appear in competition at the Formula Drift season opener, the Streets of Long Beach, April 10 and 11. There, Foust will make his return to drifting for the first time in five years behind the wheel of the new 2015 Rockstar Energy Drink Volkswagen Passat.
