LOS ANGELES (May 5, 2010) – Rockstar Energy driver Tanner Foust is looking for another podium finish at Road Atlanta this weekend when he takes on Round 2 of the 2010 Formula Drift championship.
The driver will continue his campaign on the series in his V8-powered Rockstar Energy Drink SCION tC, prepared by Papadakis Racing. The team put in a solid performance at the first round last month, with Foust securing third-place points to start the season.
A two-time winner of the Formula Drift championship, Foust is looking to become the first driver to earn three titles in the series.
Drifting is a high-skill, high-powered motorsport with an emphasis on car control skill. Drivers compete in kock-out heats on a closed-course, sliding sideways at high speed in trials judged on speed and style. With origins in Japan, it is the fastest growing form of motorsport in the world.
Round 1 saw Foust finish on the podium after facing rookie Frederick Aasabo in the consolation round. He had defeated James Dean in the Great 8 round before succumbing to former champion Rhys Millen in the semi-final.
The driver has just returned from a trip to Europe where he debuted his latest motorsport venture, the FIA European Rally Cross Championship. He is the first American to compete in the series and took a solid 8th-place overall at the opening round last weekend at the Pista Automóvel de Montalegre in Montalegre, Portugal, (May 1-2).
