TANNER FOUST TAKES SECOND PLACE AT OREGON TRAIL RALLY

Portland OR, Sunday May 17th — Tanner Foust and co-driver Chrissie Beavis placed their Rockstar Energy Drink Mitsubishi on the podium for the fourth time in four rallies at the Oregon Trail Rally this weekend. Foust took second place with just three seconds to spare despite a potentially disastrous high speed “off” on the last stage of the weekend when he left the road and tagged several trees at eighty plus miles-per-hour.

The Oregon Trail Rally kicked off with a series of “Special Stages” at night at the Portland International Raceway. With over four thousand spectators in attendance, Foust and Beavis won three of the four stages and led the rally going into day two’s forest stages. Day two was marked by heavy dust for everyone following Travis Pastrana who drew first position on the road. The battle between the top four racers, however, was fiercely fought over the rest of the weekend with everyone swapping stage wins. Crash damage and flat tires forced Subaru Rally Team USA’s Ken Block out of the race and eventually knocked championship leader Andrew Comrie-Picard back to a fourth place finish.

Foust was running comfortably in second place on the last stage when his high-speed crash occurred. His experience and the Libra Racing built Rockstar Energy Drink Mitsubishi EVO X’s toughness kept them in position for their second place.

Foust noted, “Day three proved exciting as cars were pushed to the limit. ACP sustained damage, Ken Block was out and the top four guys were swapping stage wins all day. This was an important podium finish for us ahead of ACP in fourth because it puts the Rockstar team in second place in the championship just behind Pastrana.”

Tanner Foust is now placed second in the Rally America championship. His next race is the third round of the Formula Drift Championship at The Wall, New Jersey on June 5th. The Rockstar Energy Rally team now heads to Calgary, Alberta for the second round of the Canadian Rally Championship with Antoine L’Estage at the wheel the Libra Racing Mitsubishi EVO X on May 29th.
